When the TSH levels are high and T4 levels are low, your metabolism is likely to reduce its speed and working power, because of which you gain weight and fat and you are categorised as HYPOTHYROID. And the vice versa situation will categorise you as HYPERTHYROID. One more thing, thyroid hormones do not work alone, they need iodine and tyrosine (a protein) too. In HYPOTHYROIDISM, you have less iodine and tyrosine levels and vice versa in HYPERTHYROIDISM. Abnormal THYROID levels is a sign of BAD LIFESTYLE CHOICES, so please don’t blame your gender or the hormones. And, the good news is that it can be managed or your thyroid levels can be get back to normal with the right practices. Also, there is often a possibility of getting hashimoto’s thyroid- an auto immune condition for which you need to get “anti TPO” test done.
What you need to do generally?
You need to make lifestyle changes, the good ones.
  1. Eat on time- eating food regularly is very important as it helps keep your stomach full. Read more about it in this article “right way to lose weight”.
  2. Sleep on time- sleep is very important when it comes to curbing the aforementioned lifestyle diseases. Sleep time is recovery time, if you won’t let your body heal, it won’t function properly. And also, good sleep will help you keep stress free.
  3. Exercise regularly- Movement & lifestyle diseases go hand in hand. You need to learn it the hard way but if you won’t exercise REGULARLY, you won’t see any change.
  4. Eat a nutrient rich diet– Add whole grains, complex carbs, lean protein, fibre, fruits and vegetables.
    Avoid processed foods.
  5. Eat good proteins with every meal– Protein is the building block in our body. Every organ, tissue, our hair, nails akin everything is made up of protein. Dairy is important because of protein and also eggs, beans & legumes and other such sources.
  6. GOOD THINGS TAKE TIME- Give things time. Follow this regimen for at least 3 months, and then see the changes.
